First up on our list of the top 25 best cabins in the UK, we have Rowan, a rustic space set in the Northumberland countryside owned by Hesleyside Huts. This stunning cabin, large enough to accommodate four is reminiscent of wilderness cabins in North America, complete with rocking chairs on the porch. The interior is gorgeous with refurbished wood, a log fire and soft lighting.
There is plenty to explore within the 4000-acre lands surrounding the dwelling. However, this cabin would also be perfect for a winter hideaway, somewhere to escape and spend time together. For the full experience, have a soak under the stars in the outdoor bath. Heaven.
2. The Woodland Cabin
Next up, we have The Woodland Cabin, a hut that is entirely off the grid and designed to let you disconnect. This sustainable structure is beautifully built, using only local and up-cycled wood. Not only is this good for the environment but also gives the cabin a rustic feel.
The living space inside is welcoming with a wood-burning stove to greet you and keep the area toasty. Up a ladder to the mezzanine level, you will find a comfortable double bed for a refreshing sleep. Cooking at The Woodland Cabin is an outdoor affair, on the BBQ or over an open fire, what an adventure.
3. Hairy Cabin
If you’re looking to be at one with the environment surrounding you, then this is one of the best cabins in the U.K. to visit. Tucked away in the trees and buses, this the ‘Hairy Cabin’ feels as though it has been taken over by nature herself.
Beyond the immediate greenery is a whole woodland village to explore, including a lake, sauna, communal kitchen and yoga classes.
Inside and the A-frame cabin is a minimalist but warm and inviting space, the ideal place to wind down. A comfortable double bed takes up most of the room, and a wood-burning fire is on hand for heating. The interior is completely wooden and glowing with natural golden tones.
4. Lodge at the Old Mill
If you’re looking for a cabin retreat but want modern luxuries too, the Lodge at the Old mill is for you. This architectural beauty is nestled behind the trees, partially hidden from view and blending in with its surroundings. However, through the large glass windows, you get a hint of what awaits you inside.
A hanging bed and decadent light features make this space very stylish and worthy of a spot on our list of the best cabins in the UK.
There would be no sense of ‘roughing it’ in the Lodge with a full kitchen (and dishwasher!), separate lounge and bathroom. If you do want to get back to nature, enjoy the grounds and spend a night around the campfire.
It’s also located in Somerset, just a couple miles from where the Cabinspo team are based, and we can assure you it’s one of the best countryside counties in the UK.
Just a few minutes drive from the cabin you will be greeted with one of the best pubs in the UK, called The George Inn. It’s an old Victorian pub that serves great food, has a beautiful pub garden and it’s built into what feels like a castle. This, is one of favourite locations ever.
5. Dragon Cruck
Location: Powys, Wales
The Dragon Cruck is a lovingly handcrafted cabin that looks as though it grew from the ground it sits on. Nestled in the woods this cabin takes you back to nature and flows seamlessly from indoors to outdoors. With few straight lines and plenty of bare wood, this is one of the quirkiest spaces on our list of the best cabins in the UK.
The vaulted ceilings inside give the feeling of being inside a cathedral, which is impressive in such a small space. The mix of white and natural wood give the cabin a bright and spacious feel. Natural light streaming in from the many windows complements the wood.
6. The BoatShack
You may be wondering why of the next cabin on our list of the top 25 best cabins in the UK is called the BoatShack. Well, this unique cabin is made from a 1945 boat, flipped on its end with the hull pointing in the air. That’s right; you’ll be sleeping inside a boat!
The space inside is rustic and cosy with two benches that transform into a double bed at night. The recycled materials used inside give the cabin a warm feeling.
Next door, however, the kitchen and bathroom pod feels much more modern, although still recycled. This separate room offers you space to whip up tasty meals and be self-sufficient.
7. Falling Water
In ‘Falling Water’ you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the stream running around the cabin and the waterfall below it. This soothing watery sound is complemented by the blue stained glass window that pulls rippled, coloured light into the room. Surrounded by water and trees, this cabin is in the heart of nature.
The area inside is a bright white, and windows coving half of the walls make this a refreshing space to spend time in.
A bed and a fire fill the room, creating a perfect, restful zone. A composting loo and BBQ cooking facilities are available, or you could just nip to the local cafe.
8. Wooden Wagon
This cheerful wagon, at number eight on our list of the best cabins in the UK, would be the perfect place for a weekend away.
Handcrafted by the owner, you can see attention to detail everywhere in the Wooden Wagon. The beautiful curved window stands out, as does the bathtub hidden in the floor below it!
Even better than the bath, however, is the hot tub situated next to the wagon. This feature completes the space and creates a relaxing atmosphere. Cooking facilities are also available in the wagon, or the outdoor BBQ would be great on a summer’s evening.
9. The Stumpy Hobbit
Straight out of The Lord of The Rings trilogy, we have The Stumpy Hobbit. Built around a tree, this unique cabin feels like something from the past.

This tiny house certainly deserves a spot on our list of the best cabins in the U.K., with attention to detail throughout.
I love the reclaimed wood and corrugated tin that reminds you of the area’s mining history. Best of all is the secluded woodland that the cabin sits in, perfect for outdoor adventures.

15. The Tree Cabin
Location: West Yorkshire
The Tree Cabin is beautifully situated, hovering over the river running below. With a view out to the trees and river, you truly feel at one with nature in this little cabin. While the windows bring the outside in, the curved wooden walls reflect the nature that surrounds the pod, making it at one with the woods.
A sofa bed take up much of the interior space, but there is also a small kitchenette. For a bathroom, head to the cabin next door where there is a toilet and sink. The hot shower is outside, but it’s so private in this woodland that showering alfresco is a pleasure.
